Flowcharts are practically required if you’re doing a Choose Your Own Adventure ™ – style story. There’s no better way to avoid dead ends and illogical loops, plus they look nifty. I did this in Visio for The Abduction of Princess Vasilisa, which collects all of Perilous Jack’s adventures from Frost Potion through Cowardly Giant into a single story. The color coding helps me identify pages in the story where Jack encounters monsters, finds treasure, dies, etc.
