File Titling (Part One)

File titling is one of the most important ways I keep myself organized. I have thousands of files among my numerous projects, and they would quickly become useless if I didn’t have a well-developed system. I keep file names short and consistent, usually a three digit project id, five digit project id + section id, or seven digit project id + section id + chapter id, followed by an abbreviated name separated by underscores, like so: 1010217_nose_pickers. This tells me that this file is Chapter 17 in Section 2 of The Alchemist, and that the chapter is called Nose Pickers. The example in the image is the illustrations for Perilous Jack and the Frost Potion. Each image is titled with the page number on which it appears, in three digit format.
